Crafty Catepillar

Hi! I'm Sam, the person behind Crafty Catepillars.

I've always believed that children don't need complicated toys or expensive entertainment to have an amazing time. Give them some paint, paper, glue, colourful bits and pieces — and a little freedom — and they'll surprise you with what they create.

Crafty Catepillars started at my own kitchen table, with my own children, a pile of egg cartons and far too much glitter. What began as a way to fill a rainy afternoon slowly turned into something bigger: a small studio where other families' children could come and make things too.

Why we started

Because childhood should be a little bit messy

So much of childhood today is structured, scheduled and screen-shaped. I wanted to build somewhere different — a small, unhurried space where children could get their hands dirty, follow their own ideas, and not worry about doing it "right."

Crafty Catepillars was created for parents who want their child to experience real, hands-on creativity — not a worksheet, not a kit with only one correct outcome, but genuine, open-ended making.

Why creativity matters

More than just keeping busy

Creative play helps children build confidence, patience, problem-solving and fine motor skills — but honestly, that's not why we do it. We do it because making something with your own hands feels wonderful, at any age.

Every session is planned with real care: age-appropriate materials, enough structure to feel purposeful, and enough freedom for every child's own personality to come through in what they make.

Our crafty philosophy

What we believe, in practice

01

There is no wrong way to create

We don't hand out templates to trace or "correct" ways to colour in. Every child's version is the right version.

02

Mess is part of the magic

Paint gets on fingers. Glitter gets everywhere. That's not a mishap — that's what real creative play looks like.

03

Every little masterpiece is worth celebrating

Whether it's a carefully planned project or three minutes of enthusiastic scribbling, we celebrate it the same way.

04

Grown-ups are welcome, not required

Some children love company, others love their independence. We make room for both, every session.

Come and craft with us

We'd love to meet your little one and see what they create.
